What is a PD?

This is the pupillary distance measurement that is very important in aligning the lenses of your eyeglasses with your pupils. When you purchase your eyeglasses at your Optometrists office, they take this measurement to ensure that your eyeglasses align correctly. If you do not have your PD, our member Optometry practices can take that measurement for you, or you can follow these steps and measure yourself.

How to measure your PD?

Step 1

Stand 8 in. away from a mirror.

Step 2

Hold a ruler against your brow.

Step 3

Close your right eye than alight the ruler’s 0 mm with the center of your left pupil.

Step 4

Look straight then close your left eye and open your right eye.

The mm line that lines up to the center of your right pupil is your PD.
